Ruth is the Director of The Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) and a professor at the University of Western Cape. She holds a DPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford and served on the Presidential Advisory Panel for Land Reform and Agriculture in 2018 and 2019.
